Smith's masterpiece Eternal Father, Strong To Save by James Villani was commissioned by the Manassas Symphony Orchestra and premiered on November 7, 2015 in Manassas, Virginia, conductor, James Villani. One of Smith's finest works, this piece captures the essence of the Navy’s Hymn. From the grandeur of the opening fanfare, to the fugal introduction of the theme, to the final revelation of the chorale in its reverent glory, this composition is as relevant today as the day it was premiered.
