Composed by Stuart R Brown. Contemporary. 62 pages. Stuart Brown Music #2021067. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.835403).

A song for solo tenor, two flutes, oboe and strings. It is a setting of a poem in three verses by Julia Allard of Truro in Cornwall, who is a Cornish Bard. She writes: "I got the idea after reading the obituary to a fisherman in a local newspaper. I imagined this old salt, uneducated perhaps to modern eyes, making his last journey under golden sails to his final rest. Stuart's music encapsulates this. It needed to be simple – something that the old boy could relate to; and he has achieved this." The music has a sense of longing for something that is lost and can never be recaptured – the Cornish word "hyreth" ("hiraeth" in Welsh, "cumha" in Irish) sums this up absolutely. This is Celtic sound painting at its best.
