Fitzpatrick, was commissioned by the Cincinnatti Song Initiative. I was one of the inaugural class of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) mentees, and the song was written under the supervision of Evan Mack. The poem was inspired by an elderly couple who were separated by COVID, however, the words could refer to lovers of any age, separated for any reason.
