By The Crystals. By Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry, and Phil Spector. Arranged by Adrian Dee. Contemporary. 24 pages. Adrian Dee #4604755. Published by Adrian Dee (A0.817943).

One of the top pop songs of 1963, this piece would make a great concert opener or encore. It is full of energy and has a driving beat in the low flutes. I included a transcription of the sax solo from the Crystals recording, but if you have a jazzer in your group who would like to improvise during the bridge, by all means do that instead. This piece presents an excellent opportunity to get your audience moving:  vamp the first measure and get your audience clapping the back-beats for you. The contra part doubles the bass flute so if you don’t have a contra available, don’t let that stop you. Total play time: just over 2 minutes.  Let me know what you think!  adriandeeflute@gmail.com
