Composed by Various. Arranged by Yoel Epstein. Jewish,Multicultural,Wedding,World. 62 pages. Yoel Epstein #3517535. Published by Yoel Epstein (A0.773312).

This volume contains these classic Israeli folksongs:

·        Erev Ba (Evening falls), written before the founding of the state of Israel, is the tune for one of Israel's most popular folk dances. Aryeh Levanon, one of Israel's leading folk composers, wrote the tune to words by Israeli poet Oded Avishar.

·        Hava Nagila (Let us Rejoice) is one of Israel's most popular and beloved melodies. This was written in 1917 in Jerusalem by Avraham Zvi Idelssohn, considered to be the father of Israeli music. Idelssohn's research into the music cultures of the different Jewish communities of Jerusalem laid the foundation for the growth of a unique melding of east and west that is the Israeli musical style.

·        Hayu Leilot (There were nights) was written by Mordecai Zeira in 1938 to a poem by Yaakov Orland. Though this song is little known outside of Israel today, it is one of my favorites, and I hope will become one of yours as well.

·        Hofim (Beaches), written in 1935 by Nahum Heyman, with words by the poet Natan Yonatan, it became famous throughout Israel, partly because of the canonical performance by singer Chava Alberstein.

·        Chassidic Melodies is a medley of five traditional Chassidic melodies, ending with the famous Yiddish song My Yiddishe Momme.

If you enjoy these arrangements, you are welcome to try some of my other arrangements. In addition to the songs offered on this site, I have arranged three songs from the Holocaust, which I arranged and distribute for free on IMSLP. You can find them at http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Ravpapa, as well as an arrangement of the Israeli national anthem, Hatikva. If you need arrangements of any of these songs for special combinations of instruments, feel free to contact me, and I will try to accommodate. Write me at yoelepst@gmail.com.  Hope you enjoy.
