Composed by David Neff. Classical,Religious,Sacred. Score. 3 pages. David Neff #870772. Published by David Neff (A0.1279278).This chorale prelude for organ on a familiar hymn tune is flowing and placid, and is perfect for any worship service. The chorale tune is most commonly associated with the hymn text "O Word of God Incarnate" and is also used for "O Jesus, I Have Promised."
The tune was adapted by Felix Mendelssohn in 1847 from a late 17th-century chorale. He then used it as the basis for the chorus "Cast Thy Burden upon the Lord" in the oratorio "Elijah.".
