Healy WILLAN Chaconne 1957 (from Rondino,Elegy & Chaconne, for Organ)

Composer of over 800 works and teacher of over 50 years, Mr. Willan used to be known as "the Dean of Canadian Composers" and was a fixture of the Toronto music scene for a very long while. Apparently he wrote Operas and Symphonies as well, but these have not been easily available to experience. Perhaps this is just Canadian natural reticence or 'reserve'. However, it's a characteristic that is not conducive to cultivating popularity (needless to say). Nevertheless, Willan's music is simply lovely, and it's nice to know that, if you 'cotton on' to it, you will probably never exhaust the supply.
