Jazz big band - Medium

SKU: JL.JLP-7084

Recorded by Count Basie. Edited by Rob DuBoff and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Thad Jones. Swing. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-7084).

This swing arrangement was written by Thad Jones for Count Basie's 1959 album titled 'Dance Along with Basie.' The album featured arrangements by Thad and Frank Foster. The chart opens with a short intro followed by the whole ensemble stating the melody. There is a trumpet solo and piano solo before the band comes back in. Thad has done a great job of reinventing this tune with great harmonies and swinging melodic lines. Special thanks to John La Barbera, Dr. David Demsey, John Mosca, and the Thad Jones Archive at William Paterson University for their assistance in perparing this publication. Ranges: Trumpet 1: E6; Trombone 1: Bb4.
