Published by Patricia Tanttila Holmberg (A0.852585)."2016 Arrangement New Release" I quote from Wikipedia "Bist du bei mir" (English: "If you are with me") (BWV 508) is an aria in the 1725 Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (No. 25). It was therefore attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, but the melody is part of the Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel opera Diomedes, oder die triumphierende Unschuld that was performed in Bayreuth on November 16, 1718. The opera score is lost. At any rate, there is no doubt that it was originally written to be sung. I think that this is one of the loveliest melodies ever written. This arrangement is for solo piano, and I have endeavored to make it sound rich and full. It has a stately and elegant feel. BMI www.patholmberg.com.
