For Beethoven's year 2020, G. Henle Verlag presents the first of three volumes with all the piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven in a new Urtext edition, edited by Maestro Murray Perahia and the designated Beethoven expert of G. Henle Verlag, Norbert Gertsch. The volume contains the eleven Sonatas Nos. 12 to 22, Op. 26 to 54, which were published between 1802 and 1806. All sonatas are edited according to the current state of research and provided with a detailed preface and critical report, which presents the sources and reading problems. In addition to his highly valuable fingering, Murray Perahia also gives the piano world deeper insights into the emotional world and the structural composition of some of these compositions.
