This composition was written on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the De Pinte wind band. This is also the derivation of Latin title Aureus (golden - from the word aurum, or gold). This work is comprised of three main sections. Thefirst and last sections are predominantly a musical setting of the concepts of celebration and joy in keeping with the theme of jubilee. The music is therefore above all dynamic, energetic and extrovert. The middle section has a more introspective,melodic character, contemplating the subtle beauty of life. Aureus is a newly composed chorale that establishes the most important attributes in life and also within a club or association: love, friendship, health and happiness.

Goud! Dat is de kleur van het jubileum waarvoor Stijn Roels deze compositie schreef. De Latijnse titel Aureus (gouden) is een afleiding van het woord aurum (goud). Het werk bestaat uit drie grote delen. De twee hoekdelen verklanken vreugde enfeest, termen die passen bij een jubileum. Het middendeel is introvert en melodisch van karakter. Aan de basis van Aureus ligt een nieuw gecomponeerd feestelijk koraal. Het is een symbool voor de belangrijke vaste waarden in een mensenleven,maar ook binnen een vereniging: liefde, vriendschap, gezondheid en geluk!

Diese Komposition entstand anlässlich eines goldenen Jubiläums und trägt daher das lateinische Wort für 'Gold' als Titel. Der erste und dritte Satz sind die Vertonung der zu einem Jubiläum passenden Begriffe Freude und Fest:dynamisch, energisch und extrovertiert. Der Mittelteil hat einen eher introvertierten, melodischen Charakter. Aureus liegt ein neu komponierter festlicher Choral zu Grunde, der die wichtigen Werte eines Menschenlebens, aber auch einesVereinslebens symbolisiert - wie Liebe, Freundschaft, Gesundheit und Glück.

Cette oeuvre dont le titre est emprunté au mot latin aureus, qui signifie 'doré' et provient du mot aurum (or) se déroule en trois parties. La premiére et la derniére sont essentiellement l'expression musicale des conceptsde célébration et de joie qu'inspire un anniversaire important. La musique est donc avant tout dynamique, énergique et extravertie. Au coeur de la trame, la ligne se veut plus pensive et plus mélodique, contemplant la beauté subtile de la vie.Aureus souligne les aspects fondamentaux tels l'amour, l'amitié, la santé et le bonheur...

Aureus (oro in latino) é stata composta per il 50° anniversario dell'orchestra di fiati che ha commissionato il brano. Dinamici, energetici e vivaci, il primo ed il terzo movimento stanno a rappresentare la gioia e le celebrazioniper questo importante anniversario. La parte centrale é di carattere più intimo e melodico. Aureus vuole ricordare i valori importanti nella vita di ognuno di noi: l'amore, l'amicizia, la salute e anche la fortuna.
