Published by Blaartart Productions (A0.1042365).The Maid of Coolmore is the second of three movements comprising An Irish Suite. It is based on a beautiful Irish ballad about longing and lost love. In all three movements I have tried to reflect the passion and beauty of Irish tradition al music. The Maid of Coolmore has a number of time changes to portray the expressive freedom of an Irish folk-singer. There are a number of plaintive solo "calls" by particular instruments (piccolo and clarinet) and a haunting exrended solo for euphonium. An Irish suite has been performed in Fribourg, Switzerland by the Union Instrumentale de Fribourg, in Canada by thze University of Victoria Wind Symphony and in Australia by the Duntroon and Adelaide Royal Australian Army Bands. I am very interested in communicating with any conductor or ensemble who may be interested in performing this piece or indeed all three movemnts of this suite. (cavenaghfulton@yahoo.com.au).
