This tune was used to accompany words translated from a poem by St. Francis of Assisi, whose love of animals and all creation are well-known. Whereas this hymn is typically sung as a majestic song of praise, Bjorck's arrangement conveys the gentility with which St. Francis exhorted his fellow creatures to "Lift up your heads and with us sing." No doubt, he would have sung softly so as not to frighten the smaller woodland inhabitants!
