The song was included on Trainor's first EP, Title (2014), and first major-label studio album, also named Title (2015). It was written by Trainor and Kevin Kadish, and was produced by Kadish. "All About That Bass" combines bubblegum pop, doo-wop and retro-R&B genres, and incorporates elements from 1960s music.
