'Air Force One' was directed and co-produced by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, and Glenn Close. Goldsmith was commissioned to write and record this film score in just twelve days, after another composer's work was rejected. Though it was composed quickly, the music from 'Air Force One' has become one of Goldsmith's most iconic film scores. Jerry Goldsmith (1929-2004) was an American composer and conductor know for his work in film and television. His works include music for the Star Trek and Rambo franchises, as well as for Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Patton, Chinatown, Alien, Poltergeist, Gremlins, Hoosiers, Total Recall, Air Force One, L.A. Confidential, Mulan, and The Mummy. Goldsmith was nominated for six Grammy Awards, five Primetime Emmy Awards, nine Golden Globe Awards, four British Academy Film Awards, and eighteen Academy Awards. His 1976 score for 'The Omen' won him an Academy Award.
