Description
SATB choir, a cappella - Medium
SKU: PL.9823
Composed by Randall Giles. Cathedral. Choral, Chant, Evensong, General. Octavo. Paraclete Press #9823. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.9823).Randall Gile's setting of this Vesper's text is reminiscent of the Renaissance motet style in its clarity and simplicity. While firmly 20th century in harmonic content, the influence of the Renaissance masters can be heard in its word pointing and subtle rhythmic variation. Mr. Giles has also included an English text for the work, broadening its possibilities for choirs not accustomed to Latin. This intriguing and moving work would be appropriate for general use and for feasts celebrating the Holy Cross.
"I have no less enthusiasm for Randall Gile's 27-measure jewel, Adoramus te, Christe. Although much more accessible by comparison (with other pieces) it demands no less from the singers and rewards the listeners to an equal degree." - AAM Journal.
