For beginner students, this serves as a stick-control exercise, but as they move up through your program, it begins to function as a rudimental exercise for the tap-based rudiments. The 4 section works paradiddles, the 5 section works tap-fives, and the 6 section works paradiddle-diddles and double paradiddles. Your students will find value in this exercise for years to come!
