This piece marked me as an official freelance composer. I was commissioned by Dr. James Doyle to write a solo percussion piece to be gifted to his former student, Delaney, at their wedding. Since this wasn’t tied to a lesson and I was getting paid, I pulled out all the stops and put nothing but my own ideas and passion into this piece. You can definitely hear my influences, with my commitment to the Rondo form (from listening to Brahms on repeat) and later use the circle of 5th progression (my favorite chord progression), as well as the overall video game feel the melody has. I really enjoyed writing this piece, and am so happy both Delaney and Dr. Doyle like it as well.
