The results were shown in a much-publicized feature, and selections from that show are here in this awesome collection of the best and most influential rock songs of all time! Songs are arranged by their ranking with artists listed, and include American Pie, Hey Jude, Smells like Teen Spirit and more.

  • October 09, 2007 Great book despite the other reviews

I work in a music store and also teach guitar lessons and this book is GREAT. It has easy arrangements of all the great rock and roll songs for beginner to intermediate players. Even advanced players can use it to get an idea of the song and if they are...

really "advanced" they should be able to figure out the rest for themselves. As for the people who complained about only 90 songs, you must not understand how music publishing works. The publisher (Hal Leonard) has to purchase the rights to all of the songs in order to publish them in their book. The fact that they were able to acquire the rights to 90% of the songs on the VH1 countdown is pretty surprising and they did the best they could do. All in all, great book, good arrangements, and a great collections of songs that represent all eras of rock.

  • July 20, 2007 Nice collection of rock and roll

For someone wanting a fairly comprehensive collection of R&R tunes for their portfolio, this is a pretty good way to achieve that.

  • February 18, 2006 90 songs not 100

When I bought this book I was sold on the 100 songs, but when I recieved it and began looking through it I found only 90 songs. The title is misleading [...] and out of the 90 songs in the book only about 1/4 of the song sound a little...

    like the real songs

If you have any experience in playing the guitar, this isn't for you. It has some VERY good songs in it, but it does not have ANY depth in music. I think the Highest fret note in the Whole book is "4" and even That isn't very often...
