Die Neuausgabe kann insofern als Sensation gewertet werden, als bislang weltweit nur ein einziges Exemplar des ersten Bandes der deutschsprachigen Ausgabe bekannt, der zweite Band uberhaupt verschollen war und erst kurzlich vom Herausgeber wiederentdeckt wurde. Simon Molitors Versuch einer vollstandigen methodischen Anleitung zum Guitare-spielen, 1812 in Wien gedruckt und nun erstmals in einer vollstandigen Ausgabe zuganglich, ist wohl das wichtigste Dokument aus der Ara der ersten Hochblute des Gitarrenspiels. Wien war nicht nur die Stadt Beethovens und Schuberts - Wien war auch eine Metropole der Gitarre, in der Musiker aus allen Himmelrichtungen zusammenstromten und eine gitarristische Kultur entwickelten, die nur mit jener in Paris vergleichbar ist. Simon Molitor war einer ihrer Exponenten und zugleich ihr erster Chronist. Seine sehr umfangreiche und systematische Gitarrenschule dokumentiert im Textteil ausfuhrlich die Evolution der sechssaitigen Gitarre in Wien bis zum Auftreten Mauro Giulianis und ist als Fundament fur die osterreichische Gitarrentraditon von grosser Bedeutung.
