Our band is going to play this symphony requested by our conductor who is leaving us soon. This piece is just like what my conductor says, emotionally drained. Bravo, a wonderful composition, one of the best symphonic band symphony!

our school tried the 4th movement for our competition, but we gort a silver medal. Despite the fact, the attachments we have for this song cannot be measured. Feelings is what you need is truly for playing the piece well. It was a fantastic piece and a terrific experience trying...

it. A tune which will continue to be in the minds of our band members for their lives. Hwa Chong Junior College Symphonic Band Rocks!!!

  • April 20, 2005 Absolutely amazing!

I played this as my last concert piece in high school and fell in love with it. I'm not too fond of repeating songs from year to year, but I am trying to get my college director to play this piece for one of our upcoming concerts! Just amazing...

This is one of my favorite pieces of music. We are playing the third movement in our ensemble, and it is a wonderful piece. The part that is about at 171 in the 3rd mov. is actually about a grade 7. Many different instruments get melodies, including the flugelhorn, trombones...

1 and 2, bariton/euphonium, saxes, clarinets, im thinking every part at one point or another gets to hold the melody. But besides the melody, the chord progession, the harmonics, and the amout of energy. Some specific things needed are an above-average flugelhorn, being able to contrast volumes, and throughout the piece, PRECISION! I cannot stress this point enough. The composition itself is very clear, very accurate. There are no places that have the wrong chord written, or a measure was numbered wrong.
