It is, after all, Stravinsky, or Pergolesi...This is not easy music to sit down and play, at least not for me. However, being very familiar with recordings of the pieces, reading the music is like reading a book: a very interesting and intricate book. Because I'm untrained, I...

can't tell you what level of play it requires. My gut reaction is listed below.

This collection includes all of Stravinsky's pieces that were either composed for or arranged for violin and piano (and one viola solo arranged for violin). I haven't played all the selections in it, but the ones I'm familiar with are wonderful (it's Stravinsky --- what do you...

expect). The piano score binding is sewn in signatures, so it will lie flat (once you've broken it in); the notation is clear; the parts are well laid out (good page turns). The price is unbelievable. If you bought everything in this collection separately, it would cost you $146.85; at $24.95, the price per page (for piano and violin parts) is about 12 cents --- you could hardly photocopy it for this price. And this is not a republication of some old version; it's Boosey & Hawkes (the best/only edition for most of these) --- at a Dover Edition price. You can't go wrong with this. Sorry for foaming at the mouth; I'm just very enthusiastic about this collection.
