These twenty-five delightful compositions forsolo cornet/trumpet were written in a series for Carl Fischer. All ofthe titles are derived from flowers or plant names. For the first timeever, all of these gems have been collected together so that futuregenerations of trumpet players can enjoy these works by this greatmaster of the cornet/trumpet. Lillyainherited VanderCook's sensibility toward the performance and teaching of theinstrument and had a long and illustrious career as the trumpet professor atthe University of Michigan. I was fortunate to have Clifford Lillya as my trumpetteacher. It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to this VanderCookcollection and so pass on this wonderful tradition of music-based instruction.—Rob Roy McGregorTrumpet, Los Angeles Philharmonic.
