Teach Me Your Way

By Timothy Shaw

Unison/2-part choir and keyboard
Composed by Timothy Shaw. General, Lent. Octavo. Chorister's Guild #CGA1081. Published by Chorister's Guild (CG.CGA1081).

Item Number: CG.CGA1081

Based on Psalm 86:11-13, this quiet anthem gives children of all ages the opportunity to express their devotion to God: "Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth." Budding two-part choirs have a chance to practice part-singing skills when melodies from the anthem's A and B sections are juxtaposed in the final section of the piece. Both the piano and optional C instrument part offer strong support to the melody, consisting mostly of step-wise motion and easy skips of the perfect fourth and fifth. Lectionary Use: Proper 11 [16] A.

    Difficulty Level:
  • May 21, 2007 My children's choir LOVED this piece!

I'm not exactly sure who Timothy Shaw is, but I bet we'll be seeing a lot more of his music in the future. This music is SO beautiful, and also FUN to sing at the same time. My kid's choir enjoyed this more than anything we sang...

    this past season.
