The Suite for flute and piano is a typical work of French Romanticism. Influences of Chopin's piano music are clearly noticeable especially in the lyrical entry of the piano in the Prélude and in the virtuoso Final. The flute part is musically and technically varied and well-structured. The Romantic expression ranges from the floating Prélude via the lively Scherzo, Menuet and Romanze to the virtuoso Final.
