This is an attractive, reliable urtext that costs a lot less than the other urtexts. As such, it makes a good choice for students who do not need the addition of detailed critical notes and the added cost of such editions. The cover is more contemporary in appearance than what...

we typically see in the green editions. The scholarship is still present, and the text is authoritative. Debussy did not believe in the addition of finger numbers to music. He felt that each pianist should find a fingering solution that fit his or her own hand. This edition maintains that desire on the part of Debussy and hence leaves the music unfingered. I would recommend this edition for the casual student who does not want to spend money on a more expensive edition. Serious students should consider the Barenreiter edition instead, which has wonderful notes and useful fingering.
