    Difficulty Level:
  • January 14, 2008 Melody transformed into academic exercise

I know that advanced flautists can play in D flat major with ease, but I find myself concentrating on the technique rather than enjoying the melody. The arranger says he wanted to preserve the colour of the original, but this has been at the expense of making this arrangement into...

    an academic exercise.

    Difficulty Level:
  • August 26, 2007 Rachmaninoff for flute

A rhapsody originally for piano and orchestra, arranged by John York for flute and piano, with the flute part subsequently edited by James Galway. Brief (one page flute score), enchanting, technically challenging with a crescendo to high B flat into ff A flat. The piano score appears demanding. Will require...

some effort to bring full sweetness and power to this.
