This piece of music is The Real Thing. It has been called Verdi's greatest opera, and that may well be true. From begining to end, it's simply magnificent. MAGNIFICENT. ACE. T-H-E BEST!

  • November 08, 2007 Verdi, the singer's composer

This opera in the form of a requiem contains so many wonderful demands on each soloist as well as all sections of the chorus(es). What a delight to sing and hear. Audiences recognize the compositional excellence in what they hear, and they "feel" the drama that Verdi invested into...

  • April 16, 2007 Dynamics are in German

I like this score except for the fact that the dynamic markings have been translated into German from the original Italian, where the Italian is 'il piu p possible,' the score says 'so leise wie moeglich'and where the Italian is 'con voce cupa e tristissima,' the German is 'Aausserst...

leise mit duesterer Stimme und sehr traurig.' (Fortunately I speak German but for others...)

  • April 05, 2007 Best choral score for Verdi Requiem

Anyone who has the chance to sing the Verdi Requiem with full orchestra can count themselves lucky. Initially, our choir handed out another edition of the choral score. It was hard to read, with both the original Latin and an English translation of the text taking up a lot of...

room on the page. There were also printed note and text errors. Someone recommended purchasing this edition, and because I know Peters editions to always be of highest quality, I did so. This edition is flawless and easy to read, with Latin text only, and includes measure numbers throughout.
