  • July 05, 2019 worst edition

Definitely the worst edition of this method. Edited by a violinist, not a bassoonist. Directors who use this edition don't know what they are dealing with. I recommend the New Weissenborn Method by Doug Spaniol, 2013 edition.

  • April 11, 2017 Worst edition of Weissenborn

The Weissenborn Method is 'the bassoonist's bible'. There are several editions available. This is the worst of them. Ambrosio wasn't even a bassoonist and this shows in the many errors in this edition. I recommend 'The New Weissenborn Method for Bassoon' by Douglas E. Spaniol. If you want...

the 'old' Weissenborn Method, get the one by Bettoney, not the one by Ambrosio.

This book, as many before me have said, is the bassoon "bible." It is better suited for a musician who already has some background in music rather than a beginner. It starts off with very basic exercises, and continues to even college level etudes. This is a must-have for...

    a bassoonist of any level.

This is a great book for any bassoonist. It starts out very easy for the beginner and gets more difficult for the high school student. It contains scales and has a section that explains tenor clef and ornamentations. It also has a dictionary. I am a bassoon teacher and all...

of my students use this book.

The Practical Method for Fagot, by Weissenborn, is an inescapable treaty for any student who begins in so noble instrument. This edition, which comes with the Op.8 of he himself author, I recommend it without doubt.
