Passion Trumpet Quartet Eddie Lewis
Passion is a fifteen minute, four movement sacred composition depicting the events of holy week. It is at times very dissonant, utilizing the harsh harmonic structure to communicate the severity of the story leading up to Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday.
The skill level is moderately advanced. Passion is certainly not the most difficult piece I've written for trumpet ensemble. The highest note in the first part is D above the staff and the rhythms and melodic structure are all accessible to most good high school trumpet students.
