Minka, Minka had derived from the Ukrainian folk tune "Ikhav Kozak za Dunaj" and was written by Semen Klimovski. Â Many composers had adapted this tune for their works, notably Ludwig van Beethoven and Carl Maria von Weber. Â This arrangement tries to capture the Eastern European feel that one may characterize (or caricaturize). Â Â Â
This arrangement started off as an assignment while taking "Composing and Arranging for School Bands" with Dr. Scott Watson (Alfred, Hal Leonard, Wingert-Jones) at Central Connecticut State University in the summer of 2014. Â Â
Minka, Minka is arranged in band-friendly C-harmonic minor. Â A few items to remember: Â Â - Upper winds have a minor second trill on concert Ab to Aâ™® Â - The section starting at 53 should be played as delicate as one would allow. Â - The section starting at 69 should appear to gain momentum. Â - The section starting at 88 should be equal or stronger than it has first appeared. Â
