The song became instantly popular, with its beautiful soaring melodies and lyrics about finding true love ("la vie en rose" translates directly to "life in pink," or more loosely "life through rose-colored glasses"). This tune was a breath of fresh air for those entering life after World War II, and it remains very popular today for weddings, proposals, and receptions -- so you can't go wrong having this one in your gig books! This Cellobat arrangement for your string quartet is based on one of Edith Piaf's live recordings of the song, and it maintains the fun introduction, beautiful melody, and lush harmonies of the original for a chart that will be just as fun to play as it is to listen to.
