Jef Penders (Hoensbroek 1928), often called the 'Spanish Limburger', has got an international reputation as band music composer. He has conducted numerous choirs and bands, supervised many recording sessions, arranged a lot for band and composed in many styles and genres. His health obliged him to spend the winter months in a milder climate and so he settled down in the beautiful village of Benisano near Valencia in Spain. The legendary symphonic bands of the Valencia area, of course, immediately wanted to benefit from his great talent. For the famous 'Banda Primitiva' of Lliria, Penders composed LA PRIMITIVA, a real Spanish pasodoble. When a Spanish top band asks a Dutch composer to write a pasodoble, the versatility of his talent should be evident. Judge by yourself.
