The piece begins sadly, with tolling bells, but it ends in a triumphant peace.
Earl was a devout Lutheran and an active member of his church; a man who loved his God and who lived a life of service to others. Earl was also a highly honored and decorated Freemason, and this piece includes some musical Masonic symbolism.
