In a speech at the 1984 Matsumoto Summer Conference, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki nicknamed Alice Kanack Mozart's mother in response to her innovative work in the development of the creative part of the brain. He added to this his hope that as a result, someday all children might create their own music. After twelve years of research and testing, the Fun Improvisation for... series was developed. Each book contains philosophical and practical advice on how to use the 28 musical exercises to develop a child's innate creative ability to its highest level. The basic instructions allow even a twinkler to use these exercises, while the advanced instructions provide a challenge to the most advanced player.

This duet is great fun to learn and play - because it is in C major, stays mostly in first through fourth positon and has some fairly simple syncopation but otherwise rather regular rythm, I consider it an early intermediate piece. For me (I have been playng for about a year...

and a half, mostly learning on my own, but I started taking lessons four months ago) the most difficult parts are a few double stops, and a few lines written in tenor clef which I have to struggle to read! Becuase my teacher suggested this piece, she has played it for me, helped me with the fingering and understanind when to shift, so my process has been MUCH easier than if I were to try to work it all out myself. By the way, the sheet music comes with tow copies, it is a duet after all.
