  • November 17, 2008 Beautiful and challenging!

I play these pieces on the Irish Tin Whistle and I find them all quite good fun. My favourite from this book is "Miss Drummond of Perth's Favourite Scotch Measure". It is soooo nice, lots of beautiful accidentals which give it a dancing feel:). Scottish pieces are generally harder...

than Irish ones just because of the timing and unusual dotted note rhythms. But believe me, they are awesome fun once you work them out! I recommend this book for intermediate/advanced players. WARNING TO PLAYERS OF CLASSICAL MUSIC: you will find the rhythms tricky, if you are a beginner of say, classical violin, these will be quite hard. TO PLAYERS OF FOLK MUSIC: you will love every challenge that this book brings your way! LOVE IT!!!!!

  • May 17, 2001 Good for beginning fiddlers!

Wow! Did my child ever like this! Has a lot of fun tunes and good for the finger technique! I only rate this a 4 because some kids like fiddling, and some don't. . . . . . . .
