Basically the score was really good -the only thing that baffled me was that the french horn part was in the same key as the trumpets.

Music showed me exactly what I wanted to see. After reviewing the score & parts, I donated the publication to my grand-daughter's middle school band library.I rank this music at an intermediate level because of the note range expected of each player. This may not be difficult for...

the brass section of an adult band/orchestra, but presents a challenge for students lust learning their instruments.

I don't know what kind of horn you're playing, but my double horn is in F and switches into a Bb when I hit the trigger. In Europe, a French horn is usually in Bb with the F horn as the trigger. And perhaps if you are not...

clear on how to read music or the mechanics of your horn, you should be starting with something a bit easier. :)

The first trumpet part is a printed duplication of the manuscript score right down to dynamics and articulation. As was custom at the time Copland wrote this piece the Horn parts are not written "in C" they just do not have a key signature. So in reply to a previous...

reviewer, the horn parts are in F, they just have the key signature written into the part, as was the custom at the time it as written. As for the piece, it is a cornerstone of 20th century American music and one of the best pieces every written for Brass Choir.

I was disapointed with this arrangement mainly because the french horn and trumpet parts are written in the same key. I've never heard of a B-flat french horn. Something doesn't sound right with it.
