El Cachorrito by Argentine composer Ángel Villoldo (1864-1919).
Compositions in the style of tango criollo first appeared in Argentina at the very end of the 19th century and represent some of the the earliest forms of tango. Ángel Villoldo, a pioneer of Argentine tango best known for his famous composition, El Choclo, wrote dozens of tango criollo pieces and Argentine folk songs.
This arrangement of El Cachorrito for tango quintet begins with a four voice fugue based on the opening theme and features a Piazzolla style ensemble of piano, accordion (or bandoneon), violin, guitar and double bass. Includes full score plus individual parts.
