The melody starts with Altos providing rhythmic accompaniment, then joined by Sopranos with the tune. As the song develops the melody splits into 3 and then 4 part harmony, with the tune taken by different parts here and there. Soprano 1s have a soaring descant over the tune towards the end. (Top note G a twelfth above middle C for a short while)
