Very good book with a cool approach. Not at all like the typical improv are changes now play! This really gets into the creative side of improv and eases you in. Some parts are extremely tough though...the motif chapter takes time. I'll be using this with...

    my students in the future.

  • September 12, 2007 I really liked this book!

This book was great. It's a really comprehensive approach to learning and developing skills in improvisation. It starts of easy, sort of laying the groundwork, but then it gets pretty tough. I haven't seen any other book on improv that talks exclusively about building melodic solos and communicating...

through your instrument, without getting bogged down in harmony or technique. Loved the book, would highly recommend it, and the CD is really good too.
