There were maybe only 3 or 4 songs that the arrangements weren't terrible. All of the others required the piano to get any hint at the theme. This book is alright unless you are going to play for someone's wedding solo... it doesn't even have the infamous...

canon! I would actually recommend "the violinist's wedding album." it is more difficult, but you don't need the piano.

  • May 01, 2008 Popular wedding music for flute

I was a little misled by the title of this book, because it is for flute or violin with piano accompaniment. Most of the pieces require the accompaniment in order to sound complete. That said, the arrangements are quite nice for flute and have essential pieces like "Here Comes the...

Bride" that you will need to perform at a wedding.

  • June 11, 2007 Great wedding music for flutists of all abilities!

I am a professional who was seeking out simple arrangements to use at weddings, and this was a great book to start with. Most of the arrangements could be handled by a beginner, though a few are a bit tricky and best attempted only by more advanced players (it's...

obvious which are which.) This would be a great book to purchase if you are looking to get into the wedding gig biz, or if you are just an amateur who has been asked to play at a friend or relative's wedding. You will of course find the wedding march and other must-haves, plus other appropriate mood music.

  • May 02, 2007 a little disappointing

The selection of pieces is good but I'm not terribly happy with some of the arrangements. I am a flutist.

  • March 28, 2004 Not violin friendly

I'm writing this from a violinist's perspective. Though this collection contains a variety of pieces, I did not find it particularly useful for the following reasons: (1)Lengthy 8va passages. Give me ledger lines any day! I got this as an "on the fly" collection, and it did...

not work for me largely for this reason. For intermediate level players, the 8va gives the option of playing down on the lower octave. (2) Key for Mendelssohn's Wedding March was changed from the original C to A flat (4 flats). (3) Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring only has the chorale melody. The triplet melody is only in the piano accompaniment, which is okay unless you intend to play solo. Instead of this collection, I would recommend the Violin & Piano wedding collection by Lynne Latham (Latham Music Ltd.)...
