  • April 06, 2012 Bought it for piano

I don't like the lavish transcriptions for piano of this "greatest piece ever written", so I bought this to play and enjoy Bach on the piano. I can sit down and easily get swept away by Bach's genius, and not feel like it's too sparse. This is...

downright soul-lifting, and I recommend it to other Bach loving piano players.

  • September 13, 2007 J.S. Bach's "Chaconne in D Minor"

Segovia brilliantly adapted this movement from the Partita no. 2 for Violin solo. Arguably one of J.S. Bach's greatest works, and certainly one of the greatest classical pieces ever transcribed for guitar, the piece rewards the patience required to master it with a musical experience as rich as...

any in the repertoire, evoking descriptions not usually associated with the guitar: depth, majesty, grandeur, profound spirituality, holiness. Difficult? Very. But also gorgeous, deeply moving and like so much of Bach's unsurpassed canon, infinitely rich and renewable.

  • July 12, 2007 Excelent transcription

This is one of the best transcriptions of the Chaconne for the guitar, done by the great Segovia. The piece itself is wonderful, and it sounds very well on the guitar.
