I chose this piece to audition for my college orchestra on the trumpet. This piece is great because it's not overplayed. It's truly a gem because it's still good! I can't wait to dive in.

Just as it says, there's a slow part and a fast part. :) Seriously, this is a concert and recital piece that has stood the test of time. It's very good and will show off a performer's lyrical side and technical side. I always chuckle about folks' "difficulty...

level" assessments on here. This is a long, tiring piece that needs good articulation. It's hardly a beginner's piece, perhaps more like III/IV.

  • April 27, 2011 Good piece

I've been playing the trumpet for almost a year, and this piece is challenging for me, but very good! It's fine to play without the piano. Highest note is A above the staff -- well, ok B, but there's only one of those.
