A lovely arrangement. We have already made a taped version of the arrangement. Let's hope we do honor to the composer and arranger.

This is a well crafted arrangement, not terribly difficult. No divisi to speak of but it stays in 4 parts throughout so well balanced sections are needed. The voice leading is very logical and easy to follow and will not overly tax less accomplished choruses, but it is not so...

overly simple that more accomplished ensembles wouldn't find a challenge or two, particularly in the phrasing/expression.

  • February 18, 2012 Very well written arrangement

As one would expect from Mr Shaw, this is a well-done arrangement of a rather lovely pop-song (and Billy Joel's personal favorite among his own creations). THe arrangement is very singable, effective, challenging enough to engage the attention of a high school or college men's group...

, but not out of the reach of inexperienced or amateur singers. If I were to offer a caveat it would be simply that 4 well balanced sections are needed, which may prove a challenge to many men's groups (where baritones are often abundant and tenors/basses less so), and of course, being a cappella, the group would have to be capable of maintaining pitch.
