I've been teaching piano for over 10 years. The last four years I've been using Alfred's Basic Piano Course as the main curriculum of my studio and I've been very pleased. I've had experience with Bastien and Faber as well, but Alfred continues to be my favorite. I like the simple, uncluttered lay-out of the pages and the pictures are entertaining but not dominating. I have been very pleased with all the other books in the Alfred Series, but I find that this Level 3 has some tough pieces at the beginning of the book that many of my students struggle with (Hence the 4 star review). The pieces at the end of this book are great, though, and possibly easier than the ones at the beginning. I would give this book 5 stars if it removed the pieces that are not for beginning level-3 or moved them to later in the book.
