Maddelena Laura Lombandini Sirmen (1745-1818) was an Italian composer, violinist and singer. Lombardini Sirmen was highly regarded as a composer by her contemporaries. Leopold Mozart praised her violin concertos. Lombardini Sirmen's compositions, like her violin playing, were well regarded by musicians of the day. Most of her compositions for the violin were written for her own use. Unfortunately, history has not been quick to recognize the high quality and inventiveness of Sirmen's work.
CONTENT 24 short, interconnected preludes suitable for recitals, either whole or in selected groups. These virtuosic, contrasting preludes are meant as homages to Chopin, Scrjabin, Bartok, Hindemith and others, expressed in an individual contemporary idiom.
