Indie pop singer/songwriter Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek” has been inventively arranged by Vicky Greenbaum for small brass ensemble. (7-piece: 2 flugelhorns, 2 horns, 2 trombones and tuba). A strikingly unique and contemporary song, its YouTube video has been viewed more than 4.7 million times. This arrangement is not technically difficult – but it does present musical challenges in terms of nuance and inflection. Trumpeters may use bucket mutes if flugelhorns are not available, but open trumpets would not be appropriate.
