One Aria Missing 1/2 1/3
I am enjoying this Cantolopera Arias for Baritone, it's the 2nd volume in the series I have purchased. Having accompaniment from a full orchestra (& chorus) is very satisfying, making it worth the effort to master Largo al Factotum (in vol. 2). I am an intermediate opera student, an experienced professional jazz vocalist who has been concentrating on classical singing for 5 or 6 years. One major disappointment I have, though, concerns the aria that I bought this volume for, O du mein holder Abendstern, from TANNHAUSER. This aria begins with a long passage, before reaching the chorus with the recognizable libretto O du mein holder Abendstern. This 'introduction' is 2/3 of the piece, but IS NOT INCLUDED in the Play-Along recording. This first 2/3 IS included in the accompanying sheet music, but IS NOT INCLUDED in the Play-Along. Very disappointing. Fortunately, the Volume included other arias I am happy to work on.
