The world-famous pianist Andras Schiff, a most familiar name to Bach fans on account of his complete recordings of Bach's piano works, has provided fingerings for both parts of the Well-Tempered Clavier. He discusses aspects of performance practice in a detailed preface. The basis for the musical text was Henle's revised edition of Part I published in 1997 and Yo Tomita's brand new revision of Part II (spring 2007). A detailed commentary rounds off the editions. Both parts of the Well-Tempered Clavier are also available as Henle Urtext editions without fingerings and as study editions.

This title has selections that range in difficulty from SMP Level 9-10.

I am astonished
I am simply mind blown by the quality of the notes and the fingerings is what I am really interested about. Honestly, I have to say that Henle is much better then Barenreiter for that specific reason. The first thing I do in the morning is go to my piano and start using the book, as I always wanted to learn WTC. Absolutely amazing!

Fugues with Fingerings
You'll receive a meticulously (un)-edited and beautifully printed book from our trusted friends at Henle. Schiff's fingerings also leave a invaluable guide for generations of students to come. However, as a problem for all sheets with fingerings, voices are often broken when fingering choices dictate so. It certainly makes the presentation of fugues with more than 3 parts less clear (cf Baerenreiter's verson) and might cause confusions to careless readers. Henle also publishes WTCs without fingerings.

Excellent collection
My father owns this and volume II as well, I was pleased to find the exact book as my son was very keen to learn from the same book his grandfather has. It has an introduction by Heinemann and notes by Andras Schiff, who is apparently a celebrated pianist. So far he loves to play from this.

I was hooked!
The minute I opened the package I was at my piano all day! I love this arrangement of the WTC! The notes are big enough to see and the picture of the great J.S. Bach in the book is a nice add, even the comments in the back are really helpful, giving you a sense of what Bach done to the music!

Well-Tempered Clavier
I bought books one and two in Henle Verlag also, and yes I feel they're reliable, but based on what original text? I personally like the Bischoff publication because it gives alternate notes-from different original texts--of what Bach may have intended; Verlag doesn't do this.

simply the best edition
This edition, aside from being the most accurate in terms of content, is beautifully engraved with clear printing and perfectly spaced notes. It is so easy to read! I am attempting to learn the entire thing, which will be quite a pleasure with this edition. Everything is written so clearly that you forget about the book itself and focus on the music you're playing. Bach's genius clearly shines through in this edition. The five-voice fugue in C# minor is possibly one of the greatest pieces ever written. I am also building my Henle-Bach collection (unfortunately, henle hasn't published the musical offering or the keyboard arrangements of concerti by other composers). This edition is totally worth the price.
