Op 3 februari 2009 viert de muziekwereld de tweehonderdste geboortedag van Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847). Mendelssohn werd niet ouder dan achtendertig, maar gedurende dat korte leven componeerde hij een aanzienlijk aantaltijdloze klassieke favorieten, waaronder de 'Huwelijksmars' uit Ein Sommernachtstraum, dat was gebaseerd op een verhaal van William Shakespeare.
Am 3. Februar 2009 feiert die Musikwelt den 200. Geburtstag von Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809 - 1847). Obwohl jung gestorben, hinterliess er ein umfangreiches Werk, wozu der beliebteste aller Hochzeitsmarsche gehort, den er ursprunglich als Teil der Buhnenmusik zu Shakespeares Ein Sommernachtstraum komponierte. Dank Wil van der Beeks gelungener Bearbeitung kann er auch von einem Blasorchester intoniert werden.
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847) fut considere comme le plus grand enfant prodige apres Mozart. Il nous a legue des chefs-d'œuvre dans presque toutes les formes musicales. La Marche nuptiale extraite de la musique de scene du Songe d'une nuit d'ete (1842) demeure sans doute l'une des plus celebres pages de Mendelssohn. Son orchestration d'apparat et sa joyeuse solennite justifient son << tour du monde >>.
